Terrassa recycling rates stagnate below EU targets

Terrassa has recorded a selective waste collection rate of 44.73% for 2025, according to data from the Agència de Residus de Catalunya (ARC). This figure represents a slight decrease from the 44.94% recorded the previous year and marks a period of stagnation lasting approximately five years.

The current rate remains more than ten percentage points below the European Union's 2025 target of a minimum 55% selective collection. While Terrassa leads other large municipalities in the Barcelona metropolitan area—surpassing Barcelona (41.22%), Sabadell (36.24%), and Badalona (30.76%)—it remains below the Catalan regional average of 48.1%.

Girona is currently the only major Catalan city to exceed the EU threshold, reporting a rate of 60.76%.
