Terrassa surpasses annual average rainfall in 2026
Terrassa has officially surpassed its average annual rainfall for 2026 with more than two months remaining in the year. According to data from the Meteorological Service of Catalonia (Meteocat) at the Can Poal station, the city has recorded 593.8 liters per square meter, exceeding the annual average of 589.65 liters.
October has been the primary driver of this sudden increase. In the first eight days of the month alone, the Can Poal station recorded 119.3 liters, accounting for more than 20% of the total rainfall for the year. When combined with the wet month of September, which saw 116.6 liters, these two months alone represent nearly half of the year's total precipitation.
Josep Maria Gibert, a former professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), noted that the year's weather has been characterized by extreme irregularity. He described three distinct phases: a very rainy January, a prolonged spring and summer drought, and the current intense rainfall in autumn.
