Terrell Owens faces defamation lawsuit over Nolan Wells death comments
Attorneys for three young men have filed a defamation lawsuit against former NFL star Terrell Owens regarding his social media commentary on the death of 18-year-old Nolan Wells in Mississippi.
The lawsuit stems from a September 26 post on X, where Owens shared a video calling for the immediate arrest of plaintiffs Warren Hudson, Jax Pitalo, and Morgan Seymour. The plaintiffs allege that Owens falsely accused them of murder and tampering with evidence to cover up the crime. The legal complaint notes that these accusations were made despite a Mississippi grand jury unanimously declining to issue indictments five days prior, finding no credible evidence of criminal conduct related to the incident.
According to court documents, the plaintiffs claim Owens’ post, which garnered significant engagement, exposed them to widespread harassment, public humiliation, and thousands of death threats. The lawsuit argues that the former athlete's statements have caused the individuals to fear for their safety and the safety of their families.
