Czech Republic approves Tesla FSD Supervised for use on roads

The Czech Ministry of Transport has granted provisional approval for Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised system to operate on national roads. This decision follows months of technical and safety evaluations regarding speed limit compliance, traffic sign recognition, and driver attentiveness.

The approval is based on a provisional certification previously issued by the Netherlands’ vehicle authority, RDW. By granting this recognition, the Czech Republic becomes the seventh European Union member state to allow the use of Tesla’s advanced driver assistance technology, joining nations such as the Netherlands, Estonia, Slovenia, Belgium, Denmark, and Lithuania.

Despite the name, the system is classified as SAE Level 2 automation. This means it requires constant human supervision; drivers must remain attentive and be prepared to take immediate control of the vehicle at any time. The driver remains fully responsible for the vehicle's operation and safety. Tesla has indicated that the rollout of the software in the Czech Republic will begin soon.
