Tesla FSD Supervised global expansion

Overview

Tesla is expanding the availability and regulatory acceptance of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised system across different global markets.

In Australia and New Zealand, Tesla is developing ‘FSD Supervised v14 Lite’ specifically for Hardware 3 vehicles to ensure compatibility with those technical specifications while maintaining safety standards. This development follows the earlier availability of v14 for Hardware 4 vehicles in those right-hand-drive markets.

In Europe, the Czech Ministry of Transport has granted provisional approval for the FSD Supervised system to operate on national roads. This decision follows months of technical and safety evaluations concerning traffic sign recognition, speed limit compliance, and driver attentiveness. The approval is based on a provisional certification previously issued by the Netherlands’ vehicle authority, RDW.

By granting this recognition, the Czech Republic becomes the seventh European Union member state to permit the technology, joining nations including the Netherlands, Estonia, Slovenia, Belgium, Denmark, and Lithuania. The system is classified as SAE Level 2 automation, meaning it requires constant human supervision and the driver remains fully responsible for the vehicle’s operation and safety. Tesla has indicated that the software rollout in the Czech Republic will begin soon.
