Tesla Cybertruck launches Powershare home backup feature

Tesla has launched its Powershare Home Backup feature, allowing Cybertruck owners to use their vehicle's high-voltage battery to power a home during grid outages. This functionality, known as Vehicle-to-Home (V2H), integrates the truck with the Powerwall 3 home energy storage system and requires a Tesla Wall Connector.

Tesla claims that combining a Cybertruck with a Powerwall 3 can extend home backup capacity by more than three days, an amount of energy the company equates to approximately nine additional Powerwalls. Both the Cybertruck and Powerwall 3 can handle up to 11.5 kilowatts on alternating current (AC).

While the feature is currently limited to Powerwall 3 users, Tesla stated that compatibility with Powerwall 2 and Powerwall+ systems is expected to arrive later this year. Some owners have already begun receiving communications from the company regarding the rollout of this software integration.
