Tesla expands FSD with parking‑memory feature as Southeast Asia moves to subscription model

Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed that upcoming releases of the Full Self‑Driving (FSD) system will include a memory layer that records a driver’s preferred parking spots at frequent locations such as home, work or school. The enhancement aims to reduce driver interventions, which Musk said are most common in parking lots, by automatically guiding the vehicle to the exact spot the driver habitually uses.

Separately, Tesla Malaysia announced that the one‑time purchase option for FSD will end on 30 June 2026. From 1 July 2026, FSD will be available only through a monthly subscription in Malaysia and the neighbouring markets of Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and Taiwan. The notice urges owners to decide on a one‑time RM 32,000 upgrade before the deadline, after which the expected subscription fee is estimated around RM 400 per month. The change follows similar moves in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, where one‑time purchases have already been phased out.
