Tesla expands Model Y lineup with six-seat and performance variants

Tesla is expanding its Model Y lineup with two distinct variants: a family-oriented six-seat model and a high-performance version.

The Model Y L features an extended wheelbase and a 2+2+2 seating configuration designed to provide more interior space and improved third-row accessibility. This variant aims to bridge the gap between the standard Model Y and the premium Model X, offering a more practical price point for growing families.

In China, regulatory filings from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have revealed details for a new Model Y Performance variant. This model is expected to feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup with a top speed of 250 km/h. It utilizes a 78.4 kWh battery pack, providing an estimated range of 659 kilometers, which is lower than the long-range versions but consistent with a performance-focused positioning.
