Tesla launches FSD v14 Lite update for older HW3 vehicles

Tesla announced that its Full Self-Driving (FSD) v14 Lite software is being rolled out to cars equipped with Hardware 3 (HW3). Head of AI Ashok Elluswamy said the first build, version 2026.20.5.1, is being delivered to an early‑access group of experienced drivers, with a wider release planned in the coming weeks. The update distills the intelligence of the newer HW4 V14 system into the older HW3 hardware, bringing improvements in proactive and reactive driving behavior, smoother steering, lane‑centering, and new parking, unparking and reversing capabilities, as well as customizable speed profiles.

While the rollout promises "significantly improved safety," it does not enable unsupervised, fully autonomous driving. Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously confirmed that HW3 vehicles lack the memory bandwidth needed for unsupervised FSD. The company expects to expand the update to additional markets, including Europe and Australia, after validating feedback from the early‑access users.
