Tesla launches Full Self-Driving Supervised in Lithuania, its second EU market

Tesla has begun rolling out its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised system to vehicles in Lithuania, making the Baltic nation the second European Union country to receive the feature after the Netherlands. The rollout was approved by Lithuania’s Transport Safety Administration through mutual recognition of the provisional type approval granted by the Dutch vehicle authority (RDW) in April 2026. Lithuanian Transport Minister Jūras Taminskas said the system can assist with lane‑keeping, speed adjustment and other traffic tasks, but emphasized that drivers must stay alert and be ready to intervene at all times.

The expansion highlights Tesla’s incremental strategy to navigate the EU’s stringent UNECE safety regulations, which require extensive testing and data submissions. While the rollout underscores progress toward broader European adoption, officials have raised concerns about the system’s performance in adverse conditions and its level‑2 driver‑assistance status, meaning it does not replace human control. A recent report also noted an incident where the system made a dangerous error in unfamiliar territory, illustrating ongoing safety challenges as the technology expands across the continent.
