Tesla seeks EU approval for FSD and updates Model 3 range

Tesla is seeking broader regulatory approval for its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised system across the European Union, with a decisive vote expected on October 6. The technology is currently authorized in five countries: the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Estonia, and Lithuania. Tesla has released safety data to support its expansion, claiming the system is 4.1 times less likely to be involved in a crash compared to manual driving based on 100 million kilometers driven on European roads.

In a separate development, Tesla has increased the advertised WLTP range of the rear-wheel-drive Model 3 from 534 km to 572 km. This 7% improvement is attributed to the introduction of new Giti Control P10 tires, which feature lower rolling resistance. While the new tires enhance efficiency, some users have raised concerns regarding their durability and noise levels.

Tesla reports that its European FSD fleet has surpassed 100 million kilometers driven, showing rapid adoption among its 70,000 users in the authorized regions.
