Tesla prepares major FSD update with Grok AI integration

Tesla is preparing a major update to its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software, moving toward version 15. This iteration will see a tenfold increase in neural network parameters, growing from 1 billion to 10 billion. Key features include the integration of the Grok AI chatbot for natural language voice commands, allowing drivers to provide complex instructions such as avoiding construction or finding shaded parking. The system will also introduce pothole avoidance using real-time camera vision and learn individual driver parking habits.

On the hardware front, Tesla has begun trial production of its 2nm AI5 chip in Texas, with mass production expected by 2027. For older vehicles equipped with Hardware 3, Tesla is developing FSD v14 Lite to ensure continued capability.

In the Australia and New Zealand markets, Tesla reported that one year after the launch of FSD (Supervised), collision rates were 40% lower than manual driving. Data covering 160 million kilometers showed a significant reduction in emergency braking events and aggressive maneuvers compared to human-operated vehicles.
