Tesla launches 2026 software updates expanding FSD features and Grok assistant

Tesla announced a wide rollout of Full Self‑Driving (FSD) version 14 Lite to its older Hardware 3 fleet, covering roughly four million vehicles worldwide. The update (software version 2026.20.6.10) adds the ability to start FSD directly from a parked position without pressing the brake, a blue parking‑location icon on the map, arrival‑options for parking, speed‑profile settings, and refined navigation handling, merges and pedestrian interactions. Tesla’s AI vice‑president Ashok Elluswamy confirmed on X that this build is “the version that’s likely going wide release,” timing the launch a day before the company’s Q2 earnings call.

In parallel, Tesla’s 2026 Summer Update introduces significant enhancements to the in‑car Grok voice assistant. Grok can now place phone calls, search and play music, adjust climate settings and open the glovebox using voice commands. Navigation learns the driver’s routine routes and suggests preferred paths, while the mobile app now displays self‑driving mileage streaks and lets owners share statistics. Additional features include a scoring mode for the Caraoke karaoke function, parental‑control locking for the rear‑seat screen, the ability to upload custom vehicle wraps via the app, and various quality‑of‑life improvements such as named Supercharger search and Apple‑Music queueing.
