Tesla rolls out FSD update with automatic collision evasion

Tesla has begun rolling out version 14.3.9 of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised software, introducing a new active safety feature set designed to intervene during critical moments.

One primary function, Automatic Collision Evasion, allows the system to take control of steering, braking, and acceleration if it determines that standard Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) is insufficient to avoid an imminent collision. Unlike AEB, which primarily focuses on slowing the vehicle in a straight line, this new capability can execute evasive maneuvers such as lane changes or moving toward a shoulder.

Additionally, the software can now automatically engage if the system detects that a driver is heavily distracted or if the FSD system has been accidentally disengaged. This update marks a shift in how the software operates, as it can now initiate actions without direct driver input under specific safety-critical conditions to prevent accidents.
