Tesla secures Full Self-Driving approval in Denmark, fourth EU country

Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised system received provisional regulatory approval from Denmark’s Road Traffic Authority, making Denmark the fourth European nation—after the Netherlands, Lithuania and Estonia—to green‑light the technology. The Danish decision is based on the temporary type approval granted by the Dutch authority (RDW) and a technical review by Danish officials, who concluded the system can aid driver safety.

Tesla said rollout to eligible Danish vehicles will begin soon, initially targeting cars equipped with its latest hardware. Early data from the Netherlands show FSD Supervised vehicles logged over 16 million kilometres with 3.5‑times fewer collisions than manual driving and no highway crashes, underscoring the system’s safety potential when drivers remain attentive. The approval reflects a growing regulatory comfort with supervised autonomy across Europe and paves the way for further expansion in other EU markets.
