Tesla expands heavy-duty charging infrastructure in Europe and US

Tesla is expanding its heavy-duty charging infrastructure to support the upcoming European launch of the Tesla Semi. The company plans to deploy over 100 Megacharger stalls across 21 sites in Germany, France, the UK, Sweden, and the Benelux region. These chargers utilize the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) standard, capable of delivering up to 1.2 MW of power, which can replenish a Semi's battery to 60% in approximately 30 minutes.

In the United States, Forum Mobility is breaking ground on four new electric truck charging depots in California, including locations in Oakland, Ontario, and Rancho Dominguez. Tesla will operate public Megacharging sites at three of these depots. These facilities will feature pull-through lanes to allow drivers to charge without unhooking trailers and will offer both MCS and CCS ports.

Separately, Nissan is preparing to introduce the Kicks e-POWER crossover to the European market. The vehicle, which features a third-generation hybrid system, will be produced at the Nissan Sunderland plant in the United Kingdom. This £170 million investment aims to expand Nissan's electrified lineup in Europe, though the company has noted that success may depend on UK government adjustments to zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) regulations.
