Tesla's Full Self-Driving software gains Belgian road approval

Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) system has been approved for use on public roads throughout Belgium. The Flemish Minister of Mobility, Annick De Ridder, announced the homologation, which extends to the whole Belgian road network after a mutual‑recognition process that relied on test data from the Netherlands' vehicle authority (RDW). Belgium becomes the fifth European Union member to grant such permission, joining the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia and Denmark.

The approval is provisional pending a formal decision by the European Commission’s vehicle‑type technical committee, whose vote has been postponed beyond the originally planned June 2026 date. Regulators continue to assess compliance with speed‑limit rules and performance in adverse weather. The move is seen as a stepping stone for broader European adoption of Tesla’s supervised autonomous‑driving technology.
