Testosterone health: risks of deficiency and steroid misuse

Testosterone plays a critical role in male development, influencing physical characteristics such as beard growth, body hair, and longitudinal growth, as well as internal functions like prostate development and sperm production.

While testosterone levels naturally decline with age, modern lifestyle factors—including sedentary behavior, stress, and infectious diseases—are causing younger men to experience low testosterone levels earlier than in the past. This deficiency can significantly impact well-being and health.

Additionally, the use of anabolic steroids to artificially enhance muscle mass and strength poses serious health risks. When used in supraphysiological doses without medical supervision, these substances can disrupt natural hormone production, impair fertility, alter cholesterol levels, increase blood pressure, and cause mood swings or organ damage.
