TEXAN faces EU probe over overpriced Greek recycling kiosks

The European Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating TEXAN for possible misuse of EU funds in the procurement of more than 200 recycling kiosks across Greece. The contracts, valued at around €300,000 per unit, are alleged to be far above the estimated market price of €66,000, raising concerns over an €11.9 million over‑pricing.

TEXAN denies the accusations, claiming the allegations constitute an organized defamation campaign and announcing the suspension of technical and operational support to the kiosks. The withdrawal has disrupted material collection and left municipalities to manage the sites temporarily. The Greek recycling association EDSNA has issued urgent instructions to local authorities to maintain operations and is preparing a new tender for 585 recycling points.

Investigators have seized computers, digital records and contracts from TEXAN offices in Aspropyrgos and other locations. The case centers on the handling of EU‑funded projects in Attica, the Peloponnese and Crete, with potential legal and financial repercussions for the company and public bodies involved.
