Texas brothers sentenced for $8 million cryptocurrency robbery

Two brothers from Waller, Texas, have been sentenced to federal prison for a violent home invasion and kidnapping in Grant, Minnesota, that resulted in the theft of over $8 million in cryptocurrency.

Raymond Christian Garcia was sentenced to 180 months, while Isiah Angelo Garcia received 186 months. The sentences were handed down by U.S. District Judge Donovan W. Frank following the brothers' guilty pleas in June to interference with commerce by robbery.

The incident occurred on September 19, 2025, when the brothers traveled from Texas to Minnesota, ambushed a victim, and held his family at gunpoint with an AR-15-style rifle and a shotgun. The family was restrained with zip ties for more than nine hours. When initial transfers did not meet the attackers' expectations, Isiah Garcia forced the victim to drive three hours to a family cabin to retrieve additional funds from a hardware wallet.

The robbery concluded after the victim's son called 911. The brothers were later arrested near Houston, Texas. Investigators linked them to the crime using evidence found near the scene, including a receipt from a Wendy’s restaurant.
