The ambulance was reported stolen Wednesday night from Station 4 in Fort Worth. On Thursday morning, troopers spotted the vehicle in Williamson County. After the driver refused to stop, a pursuit ensued, during which the suspect allegedly rammed multiple vehicles and evaded PIT maneuvers.
The chase concluded on the upper deck of I-35 in Austin, where a DPS trooper shot and killed the driver. The suspect's identity has not yet been released. One adult was transported to a hospital with minor injuries following the incident.
The pursuit caused significant traffic disruptions, leading to the closure of southbound I-35 lanes from U.S. 183 to Airport Boulevard, including both the upper and lower decks, while investigators processed the scene.
