The Texas Longhorns have ascended to the No. 1 ranking in college football following a dramatic 24-23 comeback victory over Ohio State at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium. The win, characterized as one of the greatest comebacks in program history, was secured in the final minutes after Texas trailed for much of the game.

Key moments included a critical 4th-and-9 completion by quarterback Arch Manning to Emaree Winston, which ignited a late-game surge. The victory marks a significant turnaround for the program following a challenging 2025 season.

Texas faces UTSA in their next matchup before entering a demanding SEC schedule. Upcoming challenges include a game against Tennessee on September 26 and the Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma following their bye week.
