Plano man charged with murder after estranged wife found dead in car trunk

Jake Bigoni, 37, has been arrested and charged with murder and abuse of a corpse following the death of his estranged wife, Eliana Bigoni, in Plano, Texas.

Authorities initiated a welfare check after a friend reported that Eliana had missed a scheduled breakfast and was unresponsive to calls. Eliana had reportedly gone to her husband's apartment to pick up their two children, aged 2 and 5, for school. While the children were present in the home during the incident, they were not harmed.

During the initial police contact, Jake Bigoni claimed he did not know his wife's whereabouts, though officers noted a large stain on his shirt which he claimed was from cleaning. The investigation escalated after Jake's mother informed police that her son had called her, allegedly stating, “I have something to tell you. She’s dead. We got in a fight and she’s dead.”

Following this tip, investigators searched the apartment garage and discovered Eliana's body inside the trunk of a white Hyundai. Officials noted she had sustained severe injuries to her head and face.
