Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation acquires 650-acre Lake Palestine ranch
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation has purchased a 650-acre ranch on Lake Palestine in Henderson County for more than $10 million. The property, which has been owned by the Pollard family since 1940 as part of the Texas Pecan Nursery, is slated to be transformed into a public state park.
The land features approximately 2,000 feet of lake frontage, pine forests, a pecan orchard, native grasses, and roughly 10 ponds. It also provides habitat for waterfowl, bobcats, and white-tailed deer.
While the foundation has secured the land, the transition to a state park is expected to take time. The property will likely be transferred to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in late 2027, utilizing the voter-approved Centennial Parks Conservation Fund to facilitate the development.
