Texas Senate Candidate Talarico Praises Climate Group as Senate Advances Protect College Sports Act

Texas Senate candidate James Talarico praised the climate‑activist group Third Act, calling its work “the front line of the fight to save our democracy and save our planet.” In a leaked video he commended the organization’s push to pressure banks and halt LNG export projects on the Gulf Coast, while also supporting legislation that would boost LNG production in Texas.

The U.S. Senate Commerce Committee moved the bipartisan Protect College Sports Act to a full vote. Senators Ted Cruz and Maria Cantwell highlighted the bill’s aim to prevent the most powerful conferences from dictating terms for roughly 500,000 student‑athletes. The legislation faces opposition from the SEC and Big Ten, which object to provisions limiting conference expansion and media‑rights pooling.
