Pemex pipeline leak disrupts water and power in Tezontepec de Aldama

A major infrastructure failure in a Pemex pipeline has caused a massive water leak in Tezontepec de Aldama, Hidalgo, leaving at least nine localities without water and electricity.

The leak, which reached heights of over ten meters, prompted the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) to cut power to the area to prevent short circuits caused by water contacting high-voltage lines. The resulting service suspension has affected communities including Tenango, La Palma, Santa María, Huitel, Nuevo Panuaya, San Isidro, El Tanque, Panuaya, and the municipal seat.

While the sudden failure prevented many families from storing water, Pemex personnel arrived at the site to seal the leak. Local authorities and the Water and Sewage Commission of Tezontepec de Aldama (CAYATAH) are working to manage the emergency. Separately, the municipal government is continuing various infrastructure projects in the region, including water tank replacement and road paving, to improve long-term service reliability.
