Thai AirAsia expands domestic flight capacity for 2026 peak season

Thai AirAsia is significantly expanding its domestic flight capacity for the fourth quarter of 2026 to accommodate an expected rebound in tourism during the high season. The airline plans to scale its domestic network to a maximum of 135 flights per day between October and December, representing an increase of more than 50 percent over the third-quarter peak average of 88 daily flights.

Starting October 1, the airline will operate up to 15 daily flights between Don Mueang and Phuket, as well as five daily flights between Suvarnabhumi and Phuket. This expansion follows a previous reduction in services caused by high fuel prices and lower demand.

New direct routes will also be introduced on October 25, connecting Phuket to northeastern destinations including Khon Kaen and Udon Thani. Additionally, the airline will increase frequencies from Bangkok to several major domestic destinations such as Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Krabi, Chiang Rai, and Ubon Ratchathani. CEO Phairat Pornpathananangoon stated the increase aims to provide greater passenger convenience while maintaining safety and punctuality.
