Thai AirAsia aviation and tourism expansion
Overview
Thai AirAsia is implementing several measures to support tourism growth in late 2026. The airline is significantly expanding its domestic capacity for the fourth quarter, aiming for up to 135 daily flights between October and December. This includes increased frequencies to major destinations like Chiang Mai and Krabi, as well as new direct routes connecting Phuket to northeastern cities such as Khon Kaen and Udon Thani.
In conjunction with these capacity increases, Thai AirAsia X has partnered with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to launch the ‘Journey to the Best: Thailand’ promotional campaign. This initiative offers discounted fares from various Japanese cities to Bangkok and includes ‘Fly-Thru’ services to other Thai destinations. The airline is also resuming and increasing flight frequencies from several Japanese locations, including Sapporo, Nagoya, and Fukuoka, to bolster international connectivity.
