Thai civil servants support early retirement for those aged 50+
A NIDA Poll survey conducted among 1,310 Thai civil servants, state officials, and state enterprise employees regarding their career outlooks reveals that job security (78.85%) and good welfare (54.12%) are the primary reasons for remaining in public service.
Regarding job satisfaction, 50.08% of respondents stated they are not bored and do not intend to resign. However, a notable segment expressed burnout, with 19.01% reporting they are bored but must stay for family obligations, and 13.89% stating they are bored but unsure of alternative career paths.
On the issue of workload, 58.40% of participants reported that there is more work than available personnel. Regarding early retirement measures for ordinary civil servants, 64.05% of respondents support eligibility for those aged 50 or older with at least 25 years of service and at least 2 years remaining before standard retirement.
