Thai Meteorological Department warns of heavy rain across Thailand through July 30
The Thai Meteorological Department issued its eighth weather bulletin, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across Thailand from 27 July to 30 July. The rain is expected in the northeast, central, eastern, and western‑southern regions as a monsoon trough passes the north and upper‑eastern areas while a southwest monsoon strengthens over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand.
Authorities cautioned that the prolonged rain could trigger flash floods, landslides and rapid water‑rise, especially on steep, river‑adjacent slopes. Wave heights of 2‑3 metres are forecast over the Andaman Sea, rising above 3 metres where thunderstorms occur, and similar conditions are expected in the upper Gulf. Small vessels in the Andaman Sea are advised to stay ashore, and all marine traffic should navigate with care.
The public is urged to plan travel cautiously, avoid flood‑prone areas, and follow updates via the department’s website and hotline numbers.
