Thai Nguyen police arrest man for 630 million VND land fraud

Thai Nguyen Provincial Police have issued an arrest warrant and detained Luu Van Ngo, born in 1990, for the crime of ‘fraudulent appropriation of property’.

According to investigative documents, the incident began in late 2021 when two individuals purchased a 260m² plot of land in Thanh Cong commune. Exploiting his knowledge of the land's origin, Ngo offered to assist with the land use certificate procedures for a fee of 60 million VND. Through deceptive methods, he managed to have the certificate issued in his own name without informing the original buyers.

In May 2026, Ngo attempted to sell the land to a resident of Hanoi, claiming it was his own property. The victim purchased the plot for 630 million VND, which Ngo subsequently used for personal expenses. Authorities have advised citizens to thoroughly verify the legal status and origin of assets before conducting high-value property transactions.
