Fraud and property appropriation arrests in Vietnam

Overview

Authorities in various Vietnamese provinces have arrested individuals for different methods of ‘fraudulent appropriation of property.’

In Vinh Long, Le Van Ut Em was detained following allegations of misappropriating 900 million VND. Em reportedly attempted to invest 1.5 billion VND through a social media application called ‘AMAZOL’ and subsequently borrowed funds from an acquaintance under false pretenses to cover investment costs.

In Thai Nguyen, Luu Van Ngo was arrested for a land scam involving 630 million VND. Ngo allegedly used deceptive methods to have a land use certificate issued in his own name after offering to assist original buyers with paperwork, later selling the land to a resident of Hanoi.

In Dak Lak, Le Tri Tue was arrested for a romance scam that defrauded a victim of over 870 million VND. Tue reportedly established a fake romantic relationship and used falsified documents, including fake land use certificates and impersonated social media accounts, to build trust and extract funds.
