Thai police seize nearly 3 million meth tablets in two major operations

Police in Thailand’s Lampang province stopped a 16‑year‑old who was carrying 808 methamphetamine tablets on a motorcycle on 6 August. The teenager admitted the drugs were his and intended for sale. The seized tablets were confiscated after the rider tried to evade a checkpoint.

In a separate operation in Thung Song, Nakhon Si Thammarat, police intercepted a ten‑wheel truck loaded with fertilizer sacks that concealed about 1.4 million meth tablets. The driver was arrested and the total amount of meth seized across the two cases reached almost 3 million tablets within a month, marking the largest drug‑seizure effort in the province in decades. Authorities say the raids are part of an expanded crackdown on a regional trafficking network.
