Thai Prime Minister Anutin visits China for 2026 World AI Conference
On July 13 the Chinese foreign ministry announced that Thai Prime Minister Anutin Chanvirakul will make his first official visit to China from July 16‑20. He is invited by Premier Li Qiang and will attend the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) and a high‑level meeting on global AI governance in Shanghai.
During the visit Anutin is scheduled to meet President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang and NPC Standing Committee Chair Zhao Leji. Beijing described the trip as a sign of the “family‑like” friendship and an opportunity to deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two nations.
The conference, themed “Intelligent Partners, Co‑create the Future,” runs July 17‑20 and brings together officials and industry leaders from many countries. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet will also attend the opening session and meet Chinese leaders, prompting speculation that China may use the gathering to encourage border talks between Cambodia and Thailand.
