Thailand electronics investment exceeds $30 billion since 2023

Thailand’s electronics sector has attracted over $30.5 billion (approximately 1 trillion baht) in investment since 2023. A significant portion of this capital, exceeding $10.1 billion, is concentrated in printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic components. This surge is driven by global manufacturers expanding their presence in AI hardware and advanced semiconductor packaging within Southeast Asia.

At the Thailand Electronics Circuit Asia (THECA 2026) summit in Bangkok, the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) outlined a four-pillar strategy to transform the nation into a regional electronics hub. The strategy focuses on promoting high-potential industries, preparing the country for large-scale investment, creating opportunities for local entrepreneurs, and building a robust electronics ecosystem.

Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary General of the BOI, noted that current investments differ from previous decades as they are driven by frontier technologies, proprietary knowledge, and highly skilled labor. The government aims to use this sector to overcome the middle-income trap and elevate Thailand’s global competitiveness into the top 20.
