Thailand braces for heavy rain and flash floods across 44 provinces
The Thai Meteorological Department warned that heavy to very heavy rain will affect 44 provinces over the next 24 hours, spanning the north, northeast, central, eastern and western coastal regions. The forecast highlights a high risk of flash flooding, rapid water accumulation, and landslides, especially on steep slopes and low‑lying river valleys.
Sea conditions are also expected to deteriorate, with wave heights of about 2 m in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand, and up to 1 m in the lower Gulf. Mariners are advised to exercise caution and avoid sailing in storm‑affected zones.
Authorities urged the public to stay alert, heed local warnings, and take protective measures to minimise damage and injuries from the impending weather system.
