Thailand Cabinet issues 14 directives to manage severe flooding

The Thai Cabinet held a special meeting to address severe flooding affecting 50 districts in Bangkok and 25 other provinces. The government issued 14 directives to manage the crisis, emphasizing that the current situation differs from the major floods of 2011. Officials expect the situation in Bangkok to stabilize within two to three days, provided there is no additional heavy rainfall.

Key measures include integrating agency cooperation, systematic monitoring of water levels and weather by the Office of National Water Resources and the Meteorological Department, and utilizing the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation for evacuations. The Ministry of Defense has been tasked with providing military trucks for moving people and belongings. Additionally, the government has suggested work-from-home arrangements for the public and private sectors to mitigate impact. A central news center will provide daily updates at 10:00 AM via NBT.
