Thailand probes Bangkok clinic after death of influencer Igho Ubiribo

Thai health authorities have launched an investigation into a Bangkok cosmetic clinic following the death of British-Nigerian influencer and businessman Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo. Ubiribo died on March 6 after undergoing a penile enlargement procedure involving the injection of approximately 40ml of hyaluronic acid filler.

A post-mortem examination and toxicology report from a UK coroner’s inquest linked his death to the hyaluronic acid injection, which caused a fatal pulmonary embolism. Investigators found filler material in his lungs consistent with the substance used during the procedure.

The clinic, located in the Pathum Wan area, stated that Ubiribo had been a regular patient since 2024 and had undergone four previous procedures without complication. Management noted that while doctors advised dividing the final treatment into two sessions, Ubiribo insisted on receiving the full amount in a single session.

The Thai Ministry of Public Health has ordered inspections to determine if the facility followed required medical standards and safety protocols. The case has raised concerns regarding medical tourism and the oversight of elective cosmetic procedures in the region.
