Thailand issues heavy rain and flash flood warnings
The Thai Meteorological Department has issued warnings regarding heavy to very heavy rainfall and strong winds across various regions of Thailand. The weather is being influenced by a strong southwest monsoon and the presence of Tropical Storm Narra in the Gulf of Tonkin. While Narra is expected to make landfall in southern Guangxi, China, and is not expected to enter Thailand directly, its presence contributes to the monsoon's intensity.
Heavy rainfall is forecasted for the North, Central, and Eastern regions, with specific risks of flash floods and forest runoffs in mountainous and low-lying areas. In the Andaman Sea, waves are expected to reach 2–3 meters, exceeding 3 meters in thunderstorm areas. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea are advised to remain ashore.
Specific provinces under watch for heavy rain include Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun in the south, as well as several provinces in the North and Central regions such as Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Nakhon Sawan, and Kanchanaburi.
