Thailand issues high tide flood warning for Bangkok and central provinces
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has issued a warning for high tides affecting Bangkok and six central provinces in Thailand from September 7 to 13, 2026. The warning follows reports from the Hydrographic Department of the Royal Thai Navy regarding rising water levels in the Chao Phraya River, particularly near Phra Chulachomklao Fort.
During the peak hours of 16:00 to 19:00, the high tide is expected to cause river levels to overflow, potentially flooding low-lying areas, riverside communities, and areas lacking permanent flood barriers.
The specific provinces under watch include Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, and Samut Prakan. Authorities have advised residents, riverside businesses, and construction sites to monitor the situation closely and prepare for potential flooding.
