Thailand launches Oom Plus bond sale through digital platforms

The Public Debt Management Office (PDMO) began selling the new “Oom Plus” government bonds on 31 July 2024, offering two tenors – 3 years at a fixed 1.80 % interest and 10 years at 2.80 % – with a total issuance of 2 billion baht. The first tranche, sold via the PaeTung digital wallet, was oversubscribed and sold out in 21 seconds.

A second tranche of the same size will be available from 3–5 August through the Bond Connect Platform, using a “small‑lot first” approach that allows purchases as low as 1,000 baht. Investors can buy through participating banks, securities firms, the PaeTung app, or streaming‑type trading apps. Deputy Prime Minister Ek Niti Nitatthaprasat highlighted the sale on Facebook, noting the initiative’s aim to broaden financial inclusion, create a transparent secondary market, and strengthen Thailand’s capital‑market infrastructure. A further issuance of up to 4 billion baht is planned for September, with details to be announced in August.
