Thailand opens recruitment for 2027 Volunteer Soldier Program

The Thai government has launched recruitment for the 2027 Volunteer Soldier Program, seeking 18,784 male applicants aged 18 to 26. The application period runs from September 10, 2026, to January 24, 2027.

This new recruitment model replaces the previous “online soldier” project under policies from the government and the Ministry of Defense. Volunteers sign a four-year contract and can select their preferred service units and shifts from 221 available locations across the country.

Participants will receive a starting monthly salary of 12,090 baht, plus a special monthly allowance of 2,880 baht for food. To encourage professional military careers, those serving at least two years are eligible for a quota to enter the Army Non-Commissioned Officer School. Additionally, volunteers may receive a 5% bonus on academic scores for civil service exams and access to vocational training and non-formal education to improve their qualifications during service.
