Thailand parliamentary whips fail to agree on no-confidence debate schedule

Negotiations between the government, opposition, and cabinet representatives to establish a timeline for individual ministerial no-confidence debates have stalled. The meeting ended without a conclusion after opposition members walked out due to disagreements over the allocated duration.

The opposition is requesting five days to debate 18 ministers, whereas the government and cabinet propose a three-day period between October 27 and 29. Opposition MP Parit Wacharasindhu criticized the government's approach, suggesting the cabinet attempted to impose a timeline without prior consultation, which he argued undermines parliamentary oversight.

While the opposition expressed willingness to move the debate to November or December to accommodate the cabinet's schedule and secure the requested five days, government representatives maintained that the proposed dates in late October are sufficient. No consensus was reached regarding alternative dates.
