Thailand prepares to host 2026 IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings
Thailand is advancing preparations to host the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group. Scheduled for October 12–18, 2026, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) in Bangkok, the event marks the second time the nation has hosted these meetings.
In conjunction with these preparations, the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry, and Banking (JSCCIB) has launched the Bangkok Business Summit 2026. Held in collaboration with the World Bank and various Thai government agencies, the summit follows the theme ‘Reinvent Thailand, Resilient ASEAN.’
The summit aims to showcase public-private sector collaboration intended to restructure the Thai economy. Key addresses are expected from Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul regarding Thailand’s role as a global investment hub, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, who will discuss policy reforms to unlock new growth engines for Thailand and the ASEAN region.
