Anutin reactivates national disaster command center to manage floods
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has reactivated the National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command Center to coordinate flood relief efforts across Thailand. The move aims to centralize command and improve communication between government agencies, the military, and volunteers to address flooding in Bangkok, surrounding provinces, and other high-risk areas.
During the first meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to eliminate operational gaps and ensure all agencies work in integration without conflict. He noted that the command center will hold daily morning briefings to monitor the situation and issue immediate orders, similar to the systematic approach used during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Addressing public criticism, Anutin stated that the government welcomes feedback as a means to improve response efficiency. He clarified that his recent field visits were intended to assess the actual severity of the situation and identify specific needs, such as accelerated water drainage, rather than merely distributing relief supplies.
