Thai government to dismiss 5,925 local civil‑service exam cheaters
The Ministry of Interior announced a timeline to revoke the appointments of 5,925 candidates found to have altered answers in the local civil‑service examination. All affected individuals will be removed, regardless of whether they have already been placed in positions. The government stressed that no exceptions will be made and that the action follows the “close name, hold behaviour” principle.
Prime Minister‑level officials, including Deputy Minister Nirath Pongsitthiwat and Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprathan, said the crackdown will continue beyond the initial dismissals. A criminal investigation has identified 13 suspects for offenses such as falsifying official documents and computer‑related crimes, while a financial probe targets about 200 persons linked to illicit fund flows. The investigations are being coordinated by the National Police and the Ministry of Interior, with further legal proceedings expected in the coming weeks.
