Thailand targets ride-hailing apps and large retailers
The Trade Competition Commission of Thailand (TCCT) is implementing new regulations to curb unfair business practices by digital platforms and large retailers. The initiative specifically targets ride-hailing applications and food delivery services to prevent them from using unfair tactics, such as high commission fees or restricting business partner choices, against local restaurants and drivers.
Additionally, the government is introducing measures to protect small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by mandating that large corporate buyers pay small suppliers within 30 to 45 days. A public consultation period for the digital platform rules is currently open and will run until August 31, 2026.
