Thailand to showcase traditional medicine at Global Wellness Summit 2026

The Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine is preparing to showcase Thai massage and herbal medicine at the Thailand Global Wellness Summit 2026 in Phuket. The initiative aims to integrate traditional wisdom with science, technology, and innovation to create high-value wellness products and services for the international market.

According to data from the Global Wellness Institute, Thailand's wellness economy reached $42.7 billion in 2024, ranking 24th globally and 9th in the Asia-Pacific region. This includes $14.05 billion in wellness tourism and $3.23 billion in traditional and complementary medicine. Dr. Phongsatorn Pokpermdee, Director-General of the Department, emphasized the opportunity to combine tourism, health, and traditional medicine to establish a unique identity for Thailand's wellness services.
