Thailand U15 men's football team wins opening match against Dominican Republic

The Thailand U15 men's national football team secured a 3-2 victory against the Dominican Republic in their opening match of the FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival 2026. The match took place at the Hofsan Competition Complex in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Apiwich Onlamun scored two goals for Thailand, while Rathanon Anantakul added a third. Despite the win, the Dominican Republic staged a late comeback, scoring twice in the final minutes of the match to narrow the margin.

Following the match, head coach Kantapol Lertlamsakul noted that while the team is pleased with the win, there are areas for improvement. He highlighted the need for better defensive discipline and focus, noting that the fast-paced nature of 8-a-side football differs significantly from the standard 11-a-side game. Thailand is scheduled to face Slovakia in their next match on October 25.
