FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival 2026
Overview
The FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival 2026, held in Azerbaijan, features an 8-a-side format on smaller pitches.
In the opening matches, the Thailand U15 men's national team secured a 3-2 victory over the Dominican Republic at the Hofsan Competition Complex in Baku. Apiwich Onlamun scored twice and Rathanon Anantakul added one goal, though the Dominican Republic scored twice in the final minutes to narrow the lead. Coach Kantapol Lertlamsakul noted the need for better defensive discipline due to the fast-paced nature of the format.
In Group R, the Vietnam U15 national team initially lost their opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Following that 3-6 defeat, the team, led by coach Hoang Anh Tuan, secured consecutive victories to remain competitive. Vietnam defeated Brunei 6-0 and subsequently beat Mauritius 4-1, with goals from Van Tai, who scored twice, Phuoc An, and Xuan Vinh. Vietnam is scheduled to conclude the group stage with matches against Iran and Guyana.
